Activation Strategy

Domains follow a phased activation model:
1
Phase 1 — Foundation (Current)
2
Activate core product domains. Ensure DNS, SSL, and health monitoring are operational for all 36 domains. Park unused domains with a branded holding page.
3
Phase 2 — Developer Experience
4
Activate developer-facing domains: choco.codes, choco.tools, choco.guide, chronicle.engineer, chronicle.guide, null.builders, null.recipes.
5
Phase 3 — Visibility
6
Activate analytics, reporting, and partnership domains. Connect to the insights dashboard for cross-org metrics.
7
Phase 4 — Expansion
8
Activate community, marketplace, and ancillary service domains as products mature.
9
Phase 5 — Long Tail
10
Activate remaining domains based on demand. Some may be repurposed or consolidated.

Health Monitoring

All 36 domains are monitored by the Casa Devarno domain intelligence system:
  • DNS probe — verifies resolution and TTL
  • SSL probe — checks certificate validity and expiry
  • HTTP probe — measures response time and status
  • Redirect probe — validates redirect chains
Health data feeds into a composite score with configurable alert thresholds. See the Domain Intelligence section for implementation details.

Principles

  1. Every domain has a purpose — no speculative hoarding. Each domain maps to a planned feature or service.
  2. Brand coherence — domain families share visual identity and routing conventions.
  3. Progressive activation — domains activate as their backing services reach MVP.
  4. Monitoring from day one — even parked domains are health-checked to catch DNS/SSL issues early.
  5. Single source of truth — the domain registry in the family-hub database is the canonical record.
